SUPPORTIVE SERVICES
In addition to
neurofeedback training, Biofeedback and Counseling offers one-on-one support
as you learn to live with a more stable brain. Believe it or not, this can
take some getting used to - especially for people with long-standing
histories of chronic dysfunction. A busy or “chatty” mind that suddenly
becomes quiet can be unsettling. A previously “spacy” person used to
disorganization and chaos may now have problems figuring out what to do with
a “slowed-down” brain which now feels “boring.” Biofeedback and Counseling
helps you understand your body’s reactions to training from session to
session and helps you connect with community resources which may help make
your transition to “wellness” easier. Stress management education as well as
relaxation training and imagery are also presented as valuable tools.
We do offer psychotherapy to help clients define the changes they feel from
session to session. We suggest practical strategies for dealing with these
changes, in particular as they relate to coping with attention and
organization problems.
If you are being treated by a physician for a psychiatric or medical
condition which warrants close medical supervision, the therapists at
Biofeedback and Counseling will work closely with your doctor to get an
accurate medical picture of your situation so an appropriate neurofeedback
treatment plan can be made.
