Oklahoma PBR Enterprise Challenge Tour when it hits the Pontotoc County
Agri-plex Sept. 1-2. The Asher resident will compete against 45 of the top
bull riders in the world and, according to event sponsors, will ride some of
the toughest bull on the planet when he seeks to increase his career
earnings."

Asher Freedom Fest 9 AM - Dark at the Ballpark. Asher's 2nd Annual Freedom
Fest is Tuesday, July 4th from 9 AM until the fireworks finale that night.
There will be activities, games, singing and, of course, another fantastic
fireworks show. Games are going to kick off at 9:00 am. Volleyball will be
hosted by 1st Baptist. If they want to sign up before the day, just call the
church at (405) 784-5513. We are hoping to have a turtle race, 3-legged
race, and horseshoes. All ages are encouraged to participate. We would like
to start having booths - i.e. crafts, funnel cakes, etc. If anyone is
interested they may call City Hall (405) 784-2242 or Mary Rolette at (405)
784-1358. The high school baseball team is going to sell barbeque to raise
money for their tournaments. The junior class is going to have a dunk tank
to raise money for prom. A softball game - Fire Department versus High
School boys (not sure about girls yet) will start at 6:00 pm. Music will be
at 8:00 pm. If anyone is interested in singing call City Hall or Mary

Homecoming and Parade Begins at 11 AM. The BPA is hosting Homecoming again
this year. The theme for Asher High School Homecoming 2005 is Disney movies.
The theme for each classes' float is listed below:
Seniors: Pirates of the Caribbean
Juniors: Aladdin
Sophomores: Toy Story
Freshmen: Hercules
8th Graders: Snow White
7th Graders: Jungle Book
All area kids are invited to decorate their bikes and ride in the parade.
There is always a lot of candy for the onlookers.
There will be a biscuit and gravy breakfast hosted by the Elementary school
at 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Prices: Adults $4.00, Children (under 12 years
old) $2.00, Children (under 2) free.
The Homecoming parade will start at 11:00 a.m. Floats need to report at
10:00 a.m. at the baseball field.
The senior citizens will be serving beans and cornbread in between the
parade and coronation at the senior citizens' building on Division Street.
The coronation will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Auditorium, in honor of it
being the old gymnasium. The Auditorium will be renovated this summer and
will lose its barrel roof.
The boys basketball game will kick off the Homecoming games at 4:00. The
girls will play afterwards, at approximately 6:00.
The student council is sponsoring the Homecoming dance immediately following
the games.

Asher School resumes classes

FBC Wanette Cloth Drive deadline. Wanette First Baptist Church is collecting
donations for its annual clothing giveaway. Donations of good, clean clothes
will be accepted through Aug. 9. The clothing may be dropped off at the
churches Christian Life Center on the southwest side of the church. Clothes
will be given away from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 and from 9 a.m. to
